Alternative Miss Ireland is the most riotous, hilarious and baudy night to be had in Ireland - always a full house right up to the gods.

It is also a dedicated collective of volunteers raising an incredible amount of money for Irish HIV/AIDS organisations - over €335,000 since 1996 - and as a result, AMI has been held up as an exemplar of fundraising practice.

The money raised has been instrumental in the development of a variety of Irish HIV/AIDS related programmes across the country, each one with different concerns - from children to parents; prevention to post-infection healthcare; education, well-being and self-esteem.
